The Madhwa cuisine, popularly known as the Udupi cuisine is widely famous for the great varieties of Dosas and Idlis served with the tempting sweet sambar. The famous Masala dosa which we are all fond of, actually originated from the traditional Udupi cuisine which dates back to the early 13th century.
Although our cuisine is mostly savory, there are a few sweet dishes that make it really special like the iconic Udupi sambar. The normal lentil sambar is given a sweet twist by adding sweet pumpkin and jaggery to satisfy your palates.
