Rice kheer can be made for any festival or celebration or also as a sweet dessert which you can serve after meals. This is quick and easy recipe and does not demand much cooking skills. For any festival or any special occasion at home, we always make rice kheer. Making kheer at home is very easy. Rice kheer is made two ways – one is using cooked rice, which takes less time. Second is using raw rice. Below is the recipe of Rice kheer preparation using raw rice. Check this out


  1. Wash rice and soak in water for 30 minutes.
  2. Soak badam in cup of water and peel off the skin and pat dry.
  3. Chop the nuts as desired
  4. While rice soaks, bring the milk to a boil in a large heavy bottom pot/pan
  5. Add drained rice and begin to cook on medium flame till rice is soft, completely cooked and lightly mushy.
  6. Add sugar, stir and continue to cook until kheer turns thick.
  7. Keep stirring to prevent burning
  8. Add cardamom powder and nuts. Stir and continue to cook for 5 minutes
  9. Switch off when rice kheer reaches a desired consistency. Switch off the stove then.
  10. It thickens once it cools down
  11. Garnish rice kheer with nuts and serve
