Rajma is one of the most popular dishes in India. This is wide spread dish and everyone just savours on this. The Rajma has to be really well cooked before eating , it should not offer any hardness into the bite, which might upset your stomach. Rajma in winters is just great. Rajma can be served with steaming hot rice or also can be had with Phulkas. Rajma is also called Kidney beans and offer many benefits such as no fat intake, higher protein,Rich in fiber, prevents the risk of diabetes. These Kidney beans contain magnesium which reduces the migraine pain.These have rich source of many nutrients that are involved in the detoxification process and also relieves fatigue. The list goes on... overall this makes to be a very healthy and tasty dish. Rajma can be completely made in Ghee or butter. You can also mix oil and ghee.


  1. Wash and soak the Rajma overnight. If you are preparing the Rajma for dinner, you can soak it in the morning for 8 hours.
  2. Now, while cooking, wash the rajma thoroughly and keep it aside.
  3. Now will prepare the masala paste, Add the mix of ghee and oil in a kadhai.
  4. Add the cinnamon and cumin seeds.
  5. Add the onion paste or you can also put finely chopped onions.
  6. Fry them till golden.
  7. Add the ginger garlic and chili paste. Fry till the raw aroma of it goes away.
  8. Add the tomatoes and the spices- coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder and salt.
  9. Cook til the oil separates from the masala.
  10. Now you can add the Rajma.
  11. Pressure cook the Rajma along with the masala till Rajma gets softened and are good to eat.
  12. This method helps in infusing the masala into the Rajma.
  13. Serve hot with Rice or Hot Phulkas.
