Mostly pudina rice and other pudina items are prepared because of its great taste, it also has to offer several health benefits. Pudinapulao is mostly and highly recommended during indigestion as it is a good source of antioxidants and phytonutrients. Also, it is also served for common cold or running nose problem. Adding to that mint leaves are good source of vitamin and minerals. And hence it helps a lot to improve the immunity and keeps safe from inflammation.


  1. Wash rice and soak it for 15 minutes. Pluck and wash Pudina leaves and coriander leaves, drain them completely.
  2. Grind pudina leaves, coriander leaves, ginger garlic, onion or chopped coconut to as smooth as required without adding water into it.
  3. Take a pan, heat it with oil and add dry spices and sauté till they fry.
  4. Now add the ground paste and fry on low flame or medium flame for 2-3 minutes
  5. Add water and salt. Boil it.
  6. Add washed rice and cook in your preferred way
  7. Pressure cooker: Cook the rice till the water in it evaporates to minimum. Then close the lid and cook it on low flame for 5 minutes. If making normal rice, allow one whistle. If not, do not allow to whistle
  8. Open pan method: Cook the rice till very less water left in the pot. Cover and cook on low flame till the rice is cooked completely.
  9. When pressure goes away, open the lid and mix well. You can see a layer of mint mixture on the top. Add lemon juice and mix gently.
  10. Serve pudina rice with simple onion raita or potato kurma.
