Paneer butter masala is a delicious Punjabi dish made with paneer (Indian cottage cheese). Paneer butter masala… wow!!!!! Tastes awesome with roti, naan….within minutes you can prepare delicious restaurant style panner butter masala I tried two or three types of paneer butter masala but this version is superb like restaurant. Just try it and enjoy.


  1. Wash two medium sized tomatoes, drop those tomatoes into boiling water and cook in medium flame for 8 to 10 min or until skin starts to split off.
  2. Transfer split tomatoes into bowl of normal water
  3. Peel off the skin.
  4. Blend to a smooth paste with a tsp of sugar to it and transfer to a bowl and keep it aside. Preferably use bangalore tomatoes.
  5. Soak cashew nuts for 7 to10 mins in milk and grind it as smooth paste and set it aside.
  6. Melt butter in a pan and add tempering items given under ‘To temper’ in order. Add chopped onion and fry until it gets transparent and add tomato puree and give it a stir fry.
  7. Once done, add ginger garlic paste, red chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, pepper powder & salt and fry till the raw smell goes off.
  8. Meanwhile, add paneer cubes in hot water for 7 to 9 min and keep it ready.
  9. Add ground cashew paste and stir fry. Add paneer cubes taken out from hot water and saute for 2min.
  10. Then add a cup of milk and sauté to get correct consistency, do not bring to boil. At last add in crushed kastoorimethi leaves and switch off the flame.
  11. Serve it hot with Rotis&Naans
