Bhaja Moong Dal is typically a bengali dish. It is cooked in alomost every bengali household. Moong dal is an important meal for Indians, and this version is simply awesome. Dal is also known as Lentil Curry. This moong dal is roasted and then tempered in ghee. You can serve this dal with steamed rice along with some Potato fritters or Brinjal fry.


  1. Firstly, roast the dal in a kadhai in a low- medium flame. Till the dal changes its color to golden, but not brown. It will also give you a beautiful nutty fragrance.
  2. Now, wash the dal in running cold water.
  3. Pressure cook the dal with some salt and turmeric for 3-4 whistles or 20 minutes.
  4. In a pan, heat some ghee; temper the cumin seeds, cinnamon stick, ginger paste, garlic pods, red chili, jeera powder & bay leaf.
  5. Add the green peas in the dal
  6. Also, add the temper in the dal.
  7. Add Salt and sugar.
  8. The dal is ready to be served. Tastes great with plain hot rice along side some begun bhaja or aloo bhaja
